I’m such a slacker when it comes to using face masks, I always have the good intentions to use them regularly and never stick to it. Recently however, in an effort to force myself to mask more often, I treated myself to Elf’s new(ish) Whipped Plumping Mask to test out and review.
This mask costs £12.50 for 45 grams of product, and according to Elf this mask is supposed to hydrate, smooth and plump the skin. The packaging has a clean, luxurious look to it which I enjoy. It is plastic so doesn’t necessarily feel that luxurious, but for a drugstore product I think the packaging is very nice. The mask is supposed to be applied evenly to the face and left for 10-15 minutes, after the time has elapsed Elf say to rinse your face with warm water.
The formula is like what it says on the tin – a light, whipped, creamy texture. It doesn’t feel like what I would usually consider to be a traditional ‘mask’, it has a texture similar to a thick moisturiser – it could possibly make a good night cream for someone with drier skin. The mask is SUPER hydrating, but even though my skin is a bit on the oily side, I didn’t find it made my skin too greasy. I would still say this mask is best suited for dryer skin types however. The mask contains cucumber and aloe vera, so it has a soothing and calming effect on the skin – which is the part my poor, easily irritated skin enjoyed the most!
After using the mask my skin mostly felt really hydrated, so I guess this could translate as feeling plump! Immediately after using the mask it left a slight blurred effect over my skin, my pores and imperfections were temporarily smoothed over. This didn’t stay for long though, but was nice for the little while that it lasted!
All things considered, I am pretty happy with this mask. As my skin is oily, it is probably something I will use on the occasions that my skin is feeling a little dry and irritated. If you have dry skin I think you will love it! In terms of price it is probably near the higher end of the drugstore spectrum, but personally I think it’s worth every penny! So this one gets a thumbs up from me!
