I love a good empties post.. I find it really interesting to see what products people have used up. I usually do these posts on Youtube, but I’m taking a bit of a break from filming at the moment so I thought I would do this post in a written form instead!
The Batiste dry shampoos are my absolute favourite, I have been using them for years. They are super cheap, and really effective! I find a lot of other cheap dry shampoos leave a lot of a white cast on my hair which is really noticeable since my hair is dark. I don’t find this to be as much of a problem with the batiste ones however, which is the main reason I use them over anything else! I’m a sucker for a fruity scent so the cherry one is right up my street. I repurchase this one every single time and I can’t see that changing anytime soon!
Indie Lee Rosehip Cleanser
Another of my ultimate favourite products, I’ve been using this cleanser religiously for the best part of two years now and I could not recommend it more. Any rosacea sufferers out there NEED to give this a try, I’ve suffered with rosacea for years and tried loads of different skincare products – let me tell you nothing has worked as well as this cleanser. My skin improved within weeks when I started using this product and I haven’t looked back since. I especially love how gentle this cleanser is, my skin can be a bit on the sensitive side but this cleanser causes me no problems whatsoever. It’s pricey but oh so worth it!
This product is a spray makeup brush cleaner, which is an absolute life saver for me! I will admit I am very lazy when it comes to cleaning my makeup brushes (come to think of it I’m lazy when it comes to cleaning full stop!), but having this spray means I can give my brushes a quick clean and carry on using them straight after. Obviously I still need to give my brushes a proper deep clean with soap every once in a while, but when I’m pressed for time this product is brilliant! I like this one in particular as it isn’t too expensive, and comes in a fairly decent sized bottle so lasts me quite a long time. I’ve already repurchased this product and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a spray makeup brush cleaner.
I’m never one to spend too much money on shower gels, and these Nivea ones I pick up quite often. They are very affordable and I love the creamy texture – it makes them feel a bit more luxurious in my opinion. For the price I think they are great, so if you’re looking for a cheap shower gel then this one is definitely worth a try!
This is another product that is always in my skincare rotation, and Simple is a brand I really love as far as drugstore skincare goes. Having slightly sensitive skin I appreciate that all of their products are all very clean and gentle, and these wipes are no exception. Micellar water is another one of my skincare loves, so having them in a wipe form is really handy, especially for travelling or when I’m short on time. I wouldn’t recommend these as your only form of cleansing but they come in really handy for getting the worst of your makeup off before cleansing your face separately
I was sent this product to try out a little while back by Influenster. I have to say I really liked it, the only downside is the price tag! This cleanser made my face feel SO clean, without stripping or irritating my skin too much – so perhaps another good option for people with sensitive skin. I haven’t repurchased this yet, purely because of the price.. but I’m not ruling it out and I think I probably will repurchase it at some point. It was nice to rotate it with my Indie Lee cleanser, using this cleanser on days where my face feels like it needs a proper deep clean!
Another cheap shower gel, and if you love sweet scents this one will be right up your street. Don’t get me wrong this one isn’t bad at all for it’s price, but I have to be honest I do prefer the Nivea shower gel, it just feels a little more luxurious than this one. I did like the smell of this one, but it is pretty intense so not for anyone who isn’t a fan of strong scents. So not my favourite, but still not a bad product by any means.
I got this little dry shampoo to try in a subscription box, and it is a lot more pricey than the Batiste ones! It wasn’t a bad dry shampoo at all, it did what it meant to do – however I’m not sure I could justify price tag when I can get one from Batiste that works just as well in my opinion. If you like to have a little splurge and treat yourself, then by all means give this one a go, but personally I’m not going to be repurchasing this one.
Lush American Cream Conditioner
Conditioners are a product I am super fussy about! My hair is long, thick and gets fairly frizzy so I need a decent conditioner to tame it! This particular conditioner isn’t the best one I have ever tried, but it definitely wasn’t the worst either. It worked well to tame my frizz, but I’ve used other conditioners that made my hair feel softer. This is just me being super picky, but I do like a conditioner that makes my hair feel soft as well as looking smooth! I probably would reuse this one, but I do have other conditioners that I prefer.
The Body Shop Drops of Light Serum
I really like serums to give my skin a good burst of hydration. I’m no skincare expert but I feel as though the hydration tends to penetrate deeper into my skin using serums than normal moisturizers and this one was no exception. It has a liquid formula which I enjoyed, and it sunk into my skin pretty quickly. On the days that my skin was more oily I think this was probably a bit much for my skin, but on dryer days it was an absolute life saver and it left my skin with a healthy looking glow. I have repurchased this product in the past, I haven’t done so this time but that is mainly because I wanted to try some others. I would definitely pick this up again though, I think it’s a lovely product.
Primark PS… Love Rose
I would never have thought to buy perfume from Primark before picking up this, but it was actually quite lovely! It had a really delicate floral scent that was perfect for everyday wear. It obviously doesn’t compare to my high end perfumes, if I had to pick one of course I would pick my Georgio Armani over this, but considering this perfume is a fraction of the price it is still worth it in my opinion! I have mostly worn this perfume to work, I feel like wearing an expensive perfume to work would be a waste as I’m surrounded by grumpy old men who probably wouldn’t notice a difference anyway! The only real downside is that the fragrance doesn’t last that long, it doesn’t get me through a whole day at work.. but at least I smelled good to begin with! I have no idea if this particular perfume is still available in Primark but I’ll definitely give some other Primark ones a go at some point, the penny pincher in me loves this one!
Another subscription box sample, and another serum (going by a very long and complicated name!). I did like this one, and can see that some people will love it, but I don’t think it was quite suited to my skin type. It was SUPER hydrating, but did leave my skin feeling a bit oily so I think this would probably be better suited to someone with dryer skin. For that reason I won’t be repurchasing this, but that doesn’t mean it is a bad product.
I got this mascara as a little sample with a Tarte order, and boy did I love it! This was my go to for quite a while, and gave my pathetic little lashes a decent amount of volume and length without being overly clumpy. It has a fairly standard wand which I enjoy, it’s not too big which can sometimes be a problem I find with mascaras. I would definitely buy this again in the full size, I haven’t done so yet but that is mainly due to the fact that Tarte isn’t that cheap or easy to get hold of in the UK.
The Body Shop Aloe Soothing Night Cream
A good night cream is something I’m really struggling to find at the moment, everything I try just makes my skin feel oily by the morning! This one definitely had the soothing factor to it, I would say the texture is somewhat of a gel, cream hybrid which was very cooling to the skin. I did find this one left my skin feeling a bit oily and greasy by the morning though, so again I would say it is probably a bit better for someone with slightly dryer skin than me. If any oily skinned girls out there have any good night cream suggestions for me I would really appreciate it!
Can you believe, that as someone who considers themselves a makeup lover, this is the only ABH product I have ever tried?! Sacrilegious, I know.. but I did really love this product. It’s a fairly basic clear brow gel, but where it stands out over other brow gels is that it kept my brows in place so well without them feeling or looking too crusty and caked in gel! I’m trying out the Benefit gel at the moment, so haven’t repurchased this one yet but I definitely will again at some point.
This product completely stole my heart! Supposedly a dupe for the ABH brow pencils, this one definitely lived up to the hype for me. The thing I liked most about this pencil was how thin and precise it was which made it really easy to get my brows as sharp as I wanted them. I enjoy brow pencils for my everyday makeup (I use pomade for a more dramatic look), and this one has to be the best I have ever tried! I haven’t repurchased yet as I’m testing out some others at the moment, but there is no doubt in my mind that I will be buying this again in the near future!
So those are all of my recent empties, there was a lot more than I realised so well done if you have got this far! There are some products I love, and some that I didn’t so much.. but there is nothing that was terrible, which is why I used them all up I guess! Have you tried any of these products? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
