Since I suffer from rosacea, and have an incredibly red face at times, blush is something I tend to be a bit scared of! Don’t get me wrong I do wear it, but I am notoriously picky! Laura Mercier recently released a new range of Colour Infusion Blushes, which were described as ‘sheer and buildable’. If there are any words that will draw me to a blush they are sheer and buildable so I picked up the shade Chai, and I’ve been testing it out to share my thoughts with you all!
This blush retails for £24 and is available in 10 different shades ranging from light nudes, to deep purples so there is something for every taste and skin tone. The packaging is sleek, includes a mirror, and feels really nice quality, which is what I would expect for a £24 product!
Sheer is definitely the right word when describing this blush. With first application it was incredibly subtle, it did build eventually but took a few layers before I could get a decent amount of colour pay off. For me this isn’t too much of an issue as I prefer my blush on the sheerer side, but if you like a blush that packs a bit of a punch then this isn’t going to be the one for you! I think in an ideal world though I would prefer it to just have a little bit more pigment. It did however, build smoothly and didn’t emphasise any texture on my cheeks which is always a bonus!
Overall I would say I do like this blush, it is pretty nice but it’s by no means my favourite. It is pretty pricey, and I have a feeling that is one of the reasons I haven’t immediately fallen head over heels in love with it. The formula on the whole is good, it could just do with a teeny bit more pigment, even coming from a sheer blush loving person.
