My Quick, Everyday Makeup Routine

Everyday Minimal Makeup 2

I love makeup! The whole process of it is a wonderful experience for me, and if I could I would wear a new and exciting look everyday! However, since life doesn’t always allow me the time to spend 3 hours getting ready every morning, I’ve been experimenting with quick, natural looks and I think I have finally settled on the one I love (for now anyway!).

Everyday Minimal Makeup

My aim with my everyday makeup is just to make myself look a bit more alive and awake (quite a challenge some days!). I’m not the kind of person who feels they HAVE to wear makeup to leave the house – on the contrary, the majority of time when I am working I wear none at all. Makeup however, even just a little tends to make me feel much more put together and gives me that little confidence boost to get my day off to a better start.

Everyday Minimal Makeup Base

I always start off with my base when I am not wearing eyeshadow. I go in with a full coverage concealer and a beauty blender  (I use Tarte Shape Tape) to cover any redness, spots, discolouration etc. I have rosacea so this is why I use such a full coverage product – if your skin is clearer than mine then you could probably use a lighter concealer. I use a different concealer under my eyes but we will get onto that in a moment. I set down the concealer using my Rimmel Stay Matte Powder.

Everyday Minimal Makeup Eyes

Under my eyes I use the Elf HD Lifting Concealer which has a much lighter formula than the Shape Tape. I find my under eye area to be notoriously creasey, so I find the Shape Tape way too heavy. The Elf concealer does have less coverage, but I still find it to be sufficient and it creases on me WAY less! Also to help combat the creases, I bake using the RCMA no colour powder – this may seem a bit OTT for an everyday look but my under eyes crease so damn much it’s an essential step for me. I pack on the powder under my eyes with a mini sponge, leave it to sit for a couple of minutes, and then swipe away the powder with a small setting brush. If I have put concealer on my eyelids I’ll use the excess powder to set this too.

The only other thing I do to my eyes is put on a good coating of mascara. I am a bit of a mascara whore, always flitting from one to another, but my current favourite is the Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir mascara. It gives my lashes a bit of drama, without being too clumpy or over the top.

Everyday Minimal Makeup Face

Next I move onto my cheeks, I like to bronze and highlight – I save blush and contour for my more dramatic looks! My absolute favourite bronzer is the Benefit Hoola Bronzer, for my skin tone it is just perfect for warming my face up without being too orange or muddy! Using a fluffy brush I sweep the bronzer upwards along my cheekbones, around my hairline, on my nose, jawline and chin. This just adds a little bit of colour back into my face, and makes me look a bit less pasty!

I don’t go crazy with highlight for a simple look like this, but I do like to wear something. One of my favourites for everyday is this Elf Baked Highlighter in the shade Moonlight Pearls. It just gives me a nice subtle glow, without too much shimmer (albeit you can’t see it in the photo I took at all!). I focus this mainly on my cheekbones, but also apply a little bit to my forehead, nose, chin and cupids bow.

Everyday Minimal Makeup Brows

Brows are always an essential for me – if I have time for nothing else then brows are always the one thing I will do. For a natural look I like to use a pencil, I find these a lot softer and less fake looking than pomades. I personally really love this NYX Micro Brow Pencil, I think it is supposed to be a dupe for the Anastasia brow pencils but I have never tried one of them so I can’t comment. It has a really fine tip so it’s easy to be nice and precise, and it has a spoolie built in so blending is a breeze. I top that off with a brow gel, I am currently using a sample of the Anastasia Beverly Hills brow gel which I really love. It’s a clear gel and really sets your brow hairs in place!

Everyday Minimal Makeup Lips

My final step is lips – I switch things up quite a lot with my lips but generally I will go for a pinky nude. Lip gloss is a current love of mine, I love how full and juicy it makes my lips look! I got this Peach Oil Lip Gloss from Primark a while back and I absolutely love it, especially for the price! I also like to use a lip liner underneath my gloss to give a bit more of a solid base – I recently picked up this Maybelline Colour Sensational Lip Liner in the shade Nude Whisper and I have been using it to death!

That is everything I use for my natural, everyday look! I can get this look done in around 15 minutes so it’s definitely achievable for day to day. It’s taken me a while to figure out all my favourite products for my go to everyday look, but for now I am really pleased with how this looks turns out every single time! What are your favourite everyday makeup products? Let me know in the comments.
