Top 5 Makeup Products

I was thinking recently about what my favourite makeup products are. Being somewhat of a makeup hoarder, a product does have to be pretty special for it to stand out to me over the rest of my collection. I’m not going to lie it was a pretty hard decision, there are quite a few products that very narrowly missed out! I finally whittled it down to five though, and I thought I would share my thoughts about them with you today!

Smashbox Spolight Palette

If you have watched any of my Youtube videos you have probably heard me banging on about this little highlighting palette a thousand times, and I’ve mentioned it before in the post I did about my highlighter collection. It is mostly the lightest shade I am fond of, it is just the perfect lit from within glow for my skintone! It’s subtle enough if applied sparingly to be worn day to day, and if you build it up then it can give a gorgeous blinding glow! I wore this on my wedding day, and it’s probably my most used highlighter in my collection!

RCMA No Color Powder

RCMA No Colour Powder

I feel like over the years this little setting powder has received some serious hype! For me personally, it totally lives up to all of it’s expectations. One of my little niggles when it comes to my makeup routine is concealer creasing under my eyes. I do have some fine lines and creases under my eyes, and concealer just tends to accentuate the problem. I spent MONTHS experimenting with different products to find something that worked, and after trying the RCMA powder I haven’t looked back. No other setting powder has locked my under eye concealer in place, without making my skin look drier than the Sahara or giving me horrendous flash back in photos. I pack the product on with a sponge, leave it to bake for a while and then brush it away – leaving my eyes as crease free as I think I’m ever going to get them!

Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Mascara

I’m rather fickle when it comes to mascara, I love a product one minute then I’m straight onto the next! This one by Marc Jacobs however has been my go to for a good few months, which says a lot! Admittedly it is not cheap, and I know not everyone will want to spend £22 on a mascara but for me it is soo worth it! This mascara gives me all the length and volume I want, without being overly clumpy. It lasts all day and holds a curl really well. My lashes naturally are pretty pathetic and they need all the help they can get, and this little beauty gets the job done no problem!

Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation

Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation

For foundation it was a big toss up between this and my Estee Lauder Double Wear, but I settled for this little gem from Bourjois in the end. This foundation really does blow me away, especially considering it’s only a tenner! This is my go to for my everyday look, I find it has the perfect natural finish but still with a decent level of coverage that builds really nicely. It has a fairly dewy finish, which on my oily skin would tend to break down quickly, but the wear time on this I find to be pretty impressive (obviously it doesn’t beat my double wear on that particular test, but what does?!). It’s a foundation I can depend on to keep me looking put together throughout the day, and I can’t ask for much more than that!

Benefit Hoola Bronzer

Benefit Hoola Bronzer

The love affair I have with this bronzer is actually quite worrying, I hit pan on it the other day and I genuinely felt a little bit heart broken. For me this is just the perfect bronzer for any occasion! The colour is bronzey enough, but doesn’t have too much of an orange undertone so I can go heavy handed with this bad boy without looking like an oompa loompa! Not that I need to go heavy handed as the colour builds up so nicely, it really is a dream to apply. It is rare you will see me in makeup without this on my face somewhere. Recently I have taken to blending this all over my eyelids for a super easy, fast, blown out eye look!

So those are my five absolute favourite products in my collection. I could have added so many more products to this list, it could have got completely out of hand – but these are definitely the best of the best! I’m pretty sure if I really had to, I could live with just these five products on my face.. but lets be honest that’s never going to happen!

What is your top 5 from your collection?
