There are so many places I want to see in this world, my list is never ending. There is just something I really enjoy about seeing new places and experiencing new things. I’ve never been travelling for an extended period, but I do try and manage to get away to at least one new place each year (more if my bank account allows me!). In today’s post I thought I would share with you some of the places that are currently on the top of my list, and hopefully give some of you a bit of travel inspo too!
Australia has been on my list for the longest time, I am actually spending a month in Australia in November and I am so excited to finally tick this one off my list! So many people that I talk to seem to love Austrailia, from the atmosphere to the scenery and the weather. I’m travelling the east coast starting in Sydney and ending up in Cairns. I’m still finalising all the plans, so don’t have a full itinerary planned yet, but the main things I’m looking forward to are Sydney harbour, Fraser Island, attempting to surf on the Gold Coast and the Great Barrier Reef. This is obviously just a tiny snippet of what we are going to be doing, and I am definitely going to be sharing everything with you when the time comes. This is the biggest trip I have ever been on, so I’m pretty nervous but also really excited to spend a whole month exploring and experiencing a new place!
Croatia looks like such a beautiful country, and it’s another country that has been on my list for quite a few years. Originally the main thing that drew me to the country was the Plitvice lakes. I am a lover of water and these lakes look so beautiful, I mean who wouldn’t want to spend a day exploring the lakes and seeing all the amazing waterfalls. In recent years I’ve also become a bit addicted to Game of Thrones, and for those of you who didn’t know, Kings Landing was actually filmed in Dubrovnik. Since Craig and I are such GoT geeks, we definitely couldn’t visit this country without having a snoop around the city where it was filmed! I’m really hoping to get a trip planned to Croatia in the next few years, since it’s in Europe it’s a much easier trip to plan than Austrailia!
I’ve visited the US a few times, and have always really enjoyed my time over there. I feel like the USA is such a big and varied place that I could spend SO much more time there and never run out of things to see and do. I really want to visit LA, I feel like I have probably watched one too many vlogs about LA in my time and it just looks like such a cool place, and the lifestyle looks like it’s a million miles away from the little village where I live in Essex! I’m also a lover of nature and there are lots of national parks and gorgeous scenery to see in California. This would be quite a big trip so I’m not sure when I will be able to do this, but I REALLY hope I can manage to organise it in the future.
I feel like this is a very generic bucketlist destination, but I still want to visit there nonetheless. I’m more drawn to the Thai islands, I am a lover of a beach holiday and some of the beaches on the islands in Thailand look divine! Thai food is also some of my favourite so I would love to do a Thai cooking course, and visit some of the food markets. We were hoping to fit a stopover in Thailand into our Australia trip, but we decided to focus the whole month on Australia in the end as there is so much to do! A trip to Thailand can still be done at a fairly affordable price though so I am hoping we will get to visit there in the next few years.
This is one of my more recent additions to my list, and something a bit different to everything else I’ve mentioned. I’ve recently seen quite a lot of Scottish travel posts popping up on my Pinterest feed, and it looks so beautiful! I’ve visited Edinburgh for a weekend before, and really enjoyed my time there but I would also like to see some more rural parts of the country. The mountains and lochs in Scotland look so peaceful, I feel like Scotland would be a great trip to completely unplug and get away from everything. Plus highland cows are so cute, how could you not want to go and see them?!
So those are the five destinations at the top of my bucketlist at the moment. Honestly my list is never ending, and as soon as I’m done with one trip I’m normally thinking about where I can go next! Some of these are definitely more realistic than others – Scotland I could do easily, but I’m not sure when I’m going to be able to pay for a trip to California! I’m definitely going to keep saving those pennies though, and tick as many as these off my list as I can!
