Have any of you tried the Stila Magnificent Metals eye shadows? I have one of their glitter and glow versions which is a very highly coveted product within the beauty community, and I have to say it is immensely pretty! One of Stila’s more recent additions to the Magnificent Metals line are the shimmer and glow eye shadows (admittedly not that recent, I’m a little bit late to the party), and I decided to treat myself to one to see if it lives up to it’s predecessor.
Like the previous version, these shadows come in a liquid form with a doe foot applicator, which makes application nice and easy. The swatch above shows just one layer, as you can see there is no layering or building of product needed! I got the colour Grace, which Stila describe as a ‘shimmering rose taupe’ and isn’t it pretty?! The packaging is the same as the glitter and glow version, apart from the lid and branding on the tube is rose gold (the other type being your standard gold).
I also swatched the shimmer and glow, and the glitter and glow versions side by side. As you can see the newer version is a much smoother formula without glitter, whereas the older version is very much a more chunky, glitter formula. Both are gorgeous, but I do think the shimmer and glow formula is much more wearable – I only ever wear the glitter and glow shadow with a full glam makeup look, whereas I feel like I could go a little bit more natural with the shimmer and glow version (let’s be honest though, not that natural!).
I’m not the most experienced with liquid eye shadows, and I think they do take a bit of getting used to. I find these shadows set quite quickly and are a little bit tricky to blend – you definitely have to work fast with these! The outcome is 100% worth it though, this shadow is GORGEOUS and it’s staying power is immense! I do tend to get oily eyelids which breaks down eye shadow very quickly, but I haven’t experienced this problem with this one at all.
Above is the look I created with this product, I have to say I am really pleased with the outcome. You can’t beat a good shimmery eye shadow in my opinion, and this one shimmers for sure! The only real downside to this product for me is the price, they cost £23 each which is a fair whack for one shade, especially considering you can get some really good quality eye shadow palettes for not that much more. I would love to pick up all the shades but it would set me back hundreds! Despite this, I think I would still recommend this product – there’s nothing wrong with a little splurge once in a while if it’s a product you love, and how can you not love something this shimmery?!
